What Makes the Best All Natural Dog Food?

Low Carb

100% Natural Ingredients

Nutritionally Balanced

Low Temperature Cooking

Studies show that lower carb diets may reduce inflammation helping medical conditions like arthritis and other joint issues, they may also help manage diabetes and aid in addressing weight issues.

Low carb diets tend to feature higher amounts of protein and healthy fats than traditional dog foods—an important factor when it comes to promoting overall health and energy levels.

Ingredients

We used many data sources while compiling our recipe, including data from the USDA https://fdc.nal.usda.gov/fdc-app.html#/, foodstandards.gov.au foodcomposition.co.nz and many other government nutrition databases.

Many big companies use nutrition software to calculate their Nutritional analysis, we've done the same. However, we are going to take this a step further by having our food scientifically analysed.

BEEF - 10% FAT

Raw Steak

Beef provides the best source of Zinc compared to other meats.

Hulled Hemp Seeds

Hemp_Seeds_protein1.jpg

Hemp Seeds have a great nutritional profile, from being a complete protein to having a great ratio of omega 3's and 6's. They also provide Zinc, many B vitamins, especially B1 and are a low carb source of fibre.

Salmon

Salmon

You might be thinking Salmon has to be here for the Omega 3, but you'd only be partially correct. We've mainly used Salmon because it's the BEST food source of Vitamin D on the planet (by a long shot).

Beef Liver

Iron, Zinc, Copper, Choline, Biotin, B12, Folate and B2.

Chicken Liver

We use Chicken Liver along with the beef to improve the Zinc to Copper ratio. Chicken Livers are also a better source of Biotin than Beef Livers which in contrast are a better source of Choline.

Free Range Eggs

Eggs on Table

Eggs are a controversial super food, but ignoring the negative hyperbole they are full of essential fats and nutrients including Biotin, Choline, Vitamin D, Phosphorus, Riboflavin (B2 ).

Sardines

Sardines

Sardines are to further increase Omega 3's while helping keep the recipe slightly more affordable compared to using all Salmon. Sardines are also a great source of Selenium and Calcium.

Broccoli

1024px-Fire-Tuscarora_Organic_Growers_-_Broccoli_2_.jpg

An excellent source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that may help protect against several chronic diseases. Broccoli contains important nutrients, including vitamin C, vitamin K, dietary fibre, folate, manganese, phosphorus, iron, zinc and sulforaphane.

Blueberries

Blueberries

Rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. The blueberry's antioxidant content is particularly impressive due to the presence of polyphenolic compounds like anthocyanins, quercetin

Hulled Sunflower Seeds

Sunflowers

Sunflower Seeds are a great source of Thiamine (B1) and Vitamin E. Vitamin E is essential for dogs, it keeps their skin and coat healthy, supports their immune system, and helps protect cells from damage.

Ginger

The main beneficial components of Ginger are Gingerol and shogaol. Ginger has been linked to improved cardiovascular health, reduced inflammation and less joint pain, helping digestion, and may also treat nausea and vomiting.

Kelp Powder

Kelp packs a powerful nutrient punch, and boasts links to numerous health benefits. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other essential phytonutrients. We use very small amounts of kelp as the main source of Iodine.

Cold Pressed

Safflower Oil

800px-Saffolwer_orange.jpg

Safflower oil is a great source of Omega 6 essential fatty acids and vitamin E.

Eggshell Powder

Raw Eggs

Powdered eggshells are the main source of calcium. Because we make this ourselves the egg membrane remains in the shell, eggshell membrane is fantastic for joint health.

You can edit the title from the Settings tab in the app. If you don’t want to display the title, simply disable the Title under “Info to Display”.
  • What is an FAQ section?
An FAQ section can be used to quickly answer common questions about you or your business, such as “Where do you ship to?”, “What are your opening hours?” or “How can I book a service?” It’s a great way to help people navigate your site and can even boost your site’s SEO.
  • What is Sous Vide?
Sous Vide is a method of precision cooking in which food is sealed in a vacuum-sealed bag and cooked in a precisely controlled water bath at a low temperature usually between 55c and 70c for an extended period of time—often 1 to 7 hours. The result is incredibly tender, delicious food with consistent results every time.
  • Does Sous Vide Retain More Nutrients?
Yes, Sous Vide retains more nutrients than other traditional cooking methods. This is because the process's low temperatures prevent damage to heat-sensitive compounds. Nutrients that are heat sensitive include: - Vitamin A - Vitamin C - Vitamin E - Thiamine (vitamin B1) - Folate (vitamin B9) - Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6 ) - Cobalamin (Vitamin B12) - Choline - Polyphenols (Such as those in Broccoli)
  • Are There Any Risks to Using Sous Vide?
Yes, there are potential risks associated with using Sous Vide. It is important to maintain the proper temperature and make sure that your food is completely sealed in its bag before placing it in the water bath. The key to Sous Vide safety is a calculation of temperature and time, bacteria can be killed at lower temperatures if held there for longer amounts of time. It's important to include the time it takes for the food to reach the required temperature when calculating how long a food should be cooked in the water bath. Sources like the NSW Food Authority, USDA and FDA all have good documents detailing Sous Vide safety.
  • How do I store the food?
You can store our unopened vacuum bags in a fridge under 4c for up to 5 days. Once opened store in an air tight container and use within 2 days. When your order arrives we recommend keeping enough food for the next 4 days in the fridge and freezing the rest. Remove the next days food from the freezer and thaw in the fridge for 24 hours.
  • Why is there liquid in the bag? Should I feed the liquid to my dog?
Yes it's important to feed the liquid to your dog. We deliver the food to you in the same bag it's cooked in, this is to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination after the cooking process, and to reduce waste. Because of this the liquid that cooks out of the food is retained in the bag. The liquid is the natural juices that come out of the food as it cooks. This liquid contains many of water-soluble vitamins, including B Vitamins, so it's very important to feed it to your dog. We've added Gelatine to the recipe both for its collagen and to help this liquid set up. However, freezing separates the gelatine from the water and it will no longer gel once thawed. The liquid is included in the weight caloric calculations when determining the caloric and nutrient density of the food. That means there's no need to worry about the water weight affecting whether or not your dog is getting enough to eat.
  • How is your food packaged?
Our food is packaged into vacuum-sealed portions. During the checkout process, we ask about your dog's weight and activity level, this is to work out their caloric requirements. We do this so that we can accurately weigh out vacuum-sealed bags that last for two days worth of meals. Once the vacuum-sealed bag has been opened store the remaining food in an air-tight container.
